There’s still nothing in our constitution that explicitly prohibits sex discrimination. John Oliver talks about how to fix that.

Who came back here after Virginia just ratified the ERA and finally allowed it to pass?

I mean Mississippi took till 2013 to ratify the 13th amendment abolishing slavery so I doubt it will be them

If it weren't for feminists which came before her, Phyllis Schafly wouldn't have the platform to advocate against women's rights. Irony to the highest degree.

"I'm so sick of living here" should be on the flag of Florida.

“It would destroy traditional male female roles”
That that’s kind of the point where we’re not servant we are equals

Phyllis Schlafly would 100% gleefully be an Aunt in Gilead. Women who participate in the oppression of other women are the absolute worst.

John: Virginia, it really could be you.

Opinions No One Cares About

Seems very telling that most of the states that haven't ratified the ERA are below the Mason-Dixon line...

The rat from Ratatouille wouldn't stand for this. He can make a McRib just fine on his own.

I've had the weird-feeling experience of being born intersex, having a doctor choose a sex for me, being raised as if that was my gender (female) including hormones starting at age 9, and living much of my adulthood perceived as male or female depending on how much money I had to convincingly present as my inner gender, male. Because of that experience, I think I'm in a pretty unique place to say that this is IMPORTANT. Women are not treated equally. They are not respected or promoted or believed or acknowledged equally. Work on that will be decades if not centuries in the making. But it's about damn time we call on our representatives, hopefully the most educated and informed of us, to acknowledge women as basically equal to men. This needs to be law so at least women who are not treated equally by the average folks they meet have recourse to make things right. ERA! NOW!

A divorce between a husband and wife.
Under ERA, each parent gets one child.
2 children.
Sorry child #3, we're sending you to the camp. It's the law now.

The only good thing about Phyllis Schafly is that she's dead.

In Mississippi's defense, no public university currently flies the state flag. That includes the flagship. We're coming along, slowly but surely. Lol

Phyllis Schlafly may have been a conservative activist in the 1970s who was married and had 6 kids...but somehow she's still, like, the OG incel
