I just realised that Last week tonight without the laughs is really dramatic.

maybe capitalism isn't the perfect system if we need to provide human sacrifices to the economy gods

The guy claiming that he doesn't want his children and grandchildren to live riddled with debt is delusional. They already are. You can't get an education or even go to the damn doctor in the USA without taking out a loan and getting plunged into debt. So. He clearly doesn't actually give a shit about them: he cares about himself and his own comfort.

John Oliver and the Hamster cheering each other up is strangely heartwarming.

Every day I am grateful not to be born in a third world country like the USA.

As a Canadian, this really angers me, when trump said he wasn’t gonna ship n95’s to Canada using CANADIAN wood, I guess he forgot what we did on 9/11, I guess we’ll also just stop sending the hundreds of doctors across the ambassador bridge to go help in midland Detroit cities. What a pathetic tiny man. Come at me Americans.

Is John Oliver going to do a segment on all the politicians who financially benefited from stock trades using the intelligence they were given as part of their job? If you think this is a good idea, like this comment. He or someone on his staff might see it.

"I don't want my grandchildren to grow up in debt and poverty!"
*Continues ignoring medical debt and student loans while arguing that minimum wage shouldn't be a living wage
"I care about my grandchildren's future!"
*Continues to ignore climate change which will have more serious repercussions for later generations

Hey from New Zealand where we did 4 weeks of mandatory lockdown and tomorrow those restrictions get a little losser.
Also we have had not even 1500 people infected of which 950 have recovered and we have had 13 deaths as of this comment.
I loved getting 7200 from my government as a stimulus check.
Have fun being number 1 America.
We will just be here in our free country with free Healthcare and a great leader.

It is now easter.... America has exceeded the number of patients that existed worldwide when Trump announced he wanted to open up the country... and the spread is still gaining momentum..

This is one of the most eerie episodes I've ever watched. The sheer tension and anger cannot be understated. I'm so glad I'm in Quebec, Canada, where our government and the people are majoritarily taking this crisis seriously, but watching this makes me fuckin' depressed. Being this delusional when you're that deep in it is absolutely insane.

To anyone in the US who reads this, wish you all the best, stay safe.
